Govinda
Mantra
जिह्वे पिबस्वामृतमेतदेव गोविन्द दामोदर माधवेति ॥
jihve pibasvāmṛtam etad eva govinda dāmodara mādhaveti
"O tongue, drink only this nectar: 'Govinda, Damodara, Madhava!'"
Meaning
The refrain of the Govinda-Damodara-stotra, attributed to Bilvamangala Thakura, author of Krishna-karnamrita. Govinda means "the one who pleases the cows and the senses", Damodara "bound at the waist with a rope" by mother Yashoda, Madhava "the husband of the goddess of fortune". In Gaudiya understanding Krishna's name is non-different from Him, so its taste is compared to nectar.
