"O energy of the Lord, O Lord, please engage me in Your service" — Srila Prabhupada's rendering of the mantra.
Meaning
The maha-mantra, the "great chant" of the Kali-santarana Upanishad, is sixteen names of the Lord. "Hare" addresses the Lord's energy, Srimati Radharani; "Krishna" means the all-attractive; "Rama" means the reservoir of pleasure. Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu made its congregational chanting the central path of bhakti for this age — a prayer to be engaged in loving service to God.
