Vishvambar

Vishvambar is a kirtan artist and mridanga virtuoso, one of the most recognizable performers on the global kirtan scene. A member of the legendary group The Mayapuris, he turns ancient mantras into a living, rhythmic celebration that draws in hundreds of voices.

His music grew out of a daily practice of bhakti — japa, chanting the holy names, and life in sacred places. In his voice and drum, Vishvambar blends gentle, meditative stillness with the powerful, almost rock-and-roll energy of kirtan.

On 108Records, Vishvambar has recorded collaborations with the label's artists, among them Padmarani and Nilambary. His releases are an invitation to experience mantra not as ritual, but as the joy of chanting together.
